Leveraging the Long Tail

Have you ever gone to a store and looked around to see for cheap items? or maybe you’ve done many trips to several stores just to compare a single item and see which one will be a bargain?

Leveraging the Long tail is when the popularity of main stream products focus on an upwards shift from somewhat small number of “hits” at the head of the curve and large numbers of niches focused towards the tail. This therefore has without the constraints of physical shelf space and of┬ádistribution of goods and services.

An example of this era is Bigbrownbox.

Bigbrownbox is an Australian owned electrical appliances store, that sells most things electrical at a competitive price. BigBrownBox is not like any other online electrical store whereby they only have limited amounts of stock online, B operates directly through the manufacturer which will mean they can offer the lowest prices on all the top brands like Sony, Apple, Asus and Toshiba.

There are many sites that available online that do the same as BigbrownBox, but mostly offer a limited range of items or just sell all on the one product. Take Dell for instance it’s an online store that sells custom-made computers made straight from the manufacturer but have high prices on their parts so therefore we turn to other sites for custom making of computers. JB Hi-Fi are ones that offer to sell most products at a bargain for consumers but they only stock limited amounts online and in store. A comparison to BigbrownBox is Dealsdirect, it is also an Australian owned online store that offer products at bargains, that sells all sorts of brands from names you haven’t heard of like Lennox and names we have heard of like Sony.

So why not give BigbrownBox a try, you might just find yourself a bargain on that popular item.
